Flying Cats, and Other Thoughts on our Next Big Move

Back from hiatus! Well, for a very short while anyway - more on that later. Now to the issue at hand. I have had this blog for nine months now, and this is my first post about my cats. That's great - hopefully it means that they don't consume my life as much as I think they do sometimes.

For seventeen months, I had two fuzzy, four-legged critters here who accompanied me through every room of the house as I went about my various domestic duties for the day. Bob and Josie are my five-year-old stray/pound cats, and they provide Nate and I with much entertainment. And sometimes much frustration, as I'm sure we'll encounter when we don't get our security deposit back on our apartment (thanks for scratching the walls, Bob-o!). Nevertheless, I'm glad we had them here during our experience - and now they're headed to Kansas City to stay with Nate's wonderful parents. We just took them to the airport today. It was not easy seeing my scared little ones huddled in their crates as a forklift carted them away to the unkown. And now I have to wait until tomorrow to find out if they made it through the journey, because for some reason they have to stay the night in Atlanta. Alas! Now that I've tugged at your heartstrings, I'll be sure to post an update when I hear they made it. The above pic is Bob (looking at his back end may clarify his name) - for some reason it's the only pic I have on my computer of either of my cats!

So the final stages of our move back to the states are underway. We leave for our last European adventure in less than two weeks! Italy will encompass the vast majority of that trip - neither of us have been, so we're glad for one final exciting journey.

As for now, traces of our life here are gradually ebbing away. I've been selling our electronics, so we no longer have our DVD player, crock pot or bedside lamps. Our groceries are dwindling as we try to finish the last of our remaining supplies. With every possession that leaves our home, the realization that this exciting chapter of our lives is about to come to an end. Soon it will be time to look forward to other new prospects - like buying a home again! I'm looking forward to showing the final outcome of that search in a few months.

Until then, I'll try to squeeze in a few final posts from Ireland - our computer is going away in about a week. I've taken photos of St. Pat's Day 2007, and I need to write about our last visitors, who we had a great time with recently! We're also having several "goodbye" celebrations, but I might not be able to post those until we're stateside again. So stay tuned . . .
